William McDonald and
Catherine Reville were married on April 23, 1846 in
Leighlinbridge, Carlow Ireland. The were contemporaries
of John Tyndall, a famous inventor, and Miles Keogh,
Gen. Custer's second in command. They are all about the
same age and all three left Leighlinbridge. William
emigrated to the United States between 1846 and 1848.
They settled, at first, in Pound Ridge, Westchester
County, NY. During their time in Westchester County,
they moved to different towns (i.e. Rye, Portchester,
Mamaroneck, etc.)
Their children became prominent
in their communities. Michael McDonald owned and
operated the Mamaoneck Bank. James McDonald became
Harbor Master for Westchester County. John McDonald (our
ggfather) became a NYC Policeman.
John married Catherine
Dougherty (Doherty) of Portchester. They had five
children Walter, Catherine, William, John, and Gertrude.
Gertrude married Charlie Coakley and Catherine married
Clarence Purdy. William married Anna Murray and they had
three boys William (father), Donald, and Douglas.
William and Douglas are deceased but Donald is living in
Waldron, IN. Under the name of John Dolan.
William McDonald married
Ethel Kelly and they had six children. Claire, William
III, Susan, Peter, Patrick, and Paul.
And that is all...so
