Irish Famine Memorial

As anyone in genealogical research knows, this is a never ending battle to find and categorize ancestors from all over the world. Especially if your family is filled with common Irish names. Sometimes I wish my name was JANOFFSKI, it would make this research a lot easier. Next time around I'll check my parents before I'm born.

One of the main stumbling blocks I ran into during my research was the location of the people I found. Only to find out later that I was bouncing around the wrong state. That being the case, for me, I have provided a list of places that my relatives lived so you can know immediately if there is a possible connection without having to "dig" too deep:

- New York City, Manhattan, Bronx
- Mamaroneck, Westchester County, New York
- Rye, Westchester County, New York
- Yonkers, Westchester County, New York
- Ireland, Leighlinbridge, Carlow
- Ireland, Tyrone
- Ireland, Meath
- England, Sheffield
- England, Ashton
- Montclair, New Jersey

Getting Started:

This site is categorized by family name. Within each family page if a different family name is shown, a link will be provided to that page. For example: William McDonald married Ethel Kelly - there will be link from Ethel Kelly to the Kelly page.

Images and Census Extracts

There are numerous images on this site that have been fine tuned to download easily. The Census Extracts are exact transcriptions of the originals. If there is a known mistake on the census, a note was added instead of replacing the original text.

Photos and certificates are link the their respective family.

Current Research

I have found Donald Murray McDonald, Born December 6, 1926 in Mt. Vernon, Westchester County, New York. He is currently living in Waldron, Indiana under the name of John Dolan. Why? I can only speculate. He might be a deserter from the army. Anyway, using the contacts that I made with this family as a basis for my opinion, they are morons and you wouldn't want to know them anyway. Family or not.

In addition:
1) I am looking for descendants of John & Delia McLaughlin of Westchester County around 1920.
2) Descendants of John Francis Murray and Ann Mulrooney of the Bronx around 1890 - 1900.
3) Descendants of Thomas Hornby Jr. His father was married twice and he was the product of the first.
